The SAP SuccessFactors Customer Forum in Melbourne was established in August 2015 and is an independent group, chaired by Ged Doyle, supporting over 30 companies.
Ged has over 40 years experience in IT/business and has been a global CIO at the international level for over 30 years. Although now mostly retired, he was the CIO at La Trobe University when they were early adopters of Employee Central (SuccessFactors HRIS) in Australia, and so has a special affinity for seeing this robust community grow and help direct product direction and strategy. Ged has a history of pushing vendors to extremely positive outcomes due to, in part, his deep vendor relationships. Ged Chairs the forum on the basis of complete independence from SAP and Presence of IT.
A gap in the communication/feedback mechanisms became evident after talking with many SuccessFactors customers. As useful and important as User Groups are, there wasn’t a forum where customers could voice their real concerns in an open and supportive community that also had a strong bias to action without the undertones of vendor selling/up-selling.
The purpose of this forum is to bring customers who use SAP SuccessFactors together to:
Highlight concerns with either the product or vendor (SAP)
Put forward development suggestions for strategic feedback to SAP SuccessFactors product management
Meet with specialist SAP teams to give real world insights
Enter into joint development arrangements if appropriate
Be a support to other customers
Presence of IT is an important sponsor of this community, however, neither POIT nor SAP attend the meeting unless invited to present by the group, after which they exit the meeting, allowing customers to be extremely open in their comments. Important successes, concerns, development ideas and presentations are produced for circulation from the meetings, and where there are follow-up matters, Ged does this on behalf of the group and then reports back.
